Criteria for the suitability of drinking water are palatability, compatibility and usability (inorganic and organic ingredients and contaminants).

The suitability of drinking water fed into the system should be checked regularly, especially with regard to germ content and chemical quality. Drinking water should be of suitable quality at the time of the actual uptake by the animals. This should be ensured by appropriate construction, installation, regular cleaning and maintenance of the drinking facilities, according to the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture in Egypt.

Biofilm control is still the key element in maintaining hygiene in animal husbandry. The addition of NADES 2.0® to the drinking water reliably eliminates bacteria and thus prevents cross-contamination. This in turn leads to better animal health. If the drinking water is treated, only approved processes or products should be used (substances approved for drinking water or substances approved as feed additives or biocides). The respective conditions and restrictions of use must be observed.
