What is ECA technology?

ECA Technology stands for Electro Chemical Activation Technology. Our disinfectant products NADES® and NADES 2.0® are Electrochemically Activated solutions that are produced through our designed patented devices.

The Aquagroup NADES devices consist of two cabinets. The top cabinet contains the electrical components and the lower cabinet contains the hydraulic components.

NADES devices generate active chlorine (sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), ECA) using a special membrane cell electrolysis. This cell consists of two electrodes (anode and cathode) separated by a diaphragm. A saturated brine solution (NaCl) is passed through it.

At the anode, chloride ions are oxidized to chlorine, which produces the anolyte NADES. At the cathode, water is reduced to hydrogen and hydroxide ions, which together with positively charged sodium ions form a sodium hydroxide solution – the catholyte NADES BASE is generated. Two different liquids are generated with different properties.

The anolyte NADES, with a content of free available chlorine of 200 ppm, has strong oxidizing properties and a broad spectrum of activity against microorganisms.

The catholyte NADES BASE is reduced and is alkaline.

Please refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet for further information. Our NADES® devices are available with a production capacity of 100-1200 liters NADES® per hour.
